Oxygen molecules (O2) from the lungs (mountains) bind to hemoglobin molecules on red blood cells (trees and rose petals in water), which transport oxygen to the organs of the body. The lung on the left also depicts the oxygen-hemoglobin dissociation curve, which describes how readily hemoglobin acquires and releases oxygen molecules.
